Recomp makes files smaller on your iPhone or iPad - videos, photos, PDFs, GIFs and audio to a size you choose, and a ZIP for everything else - without uploading anything.

It says it couldn't reach my target size. Recomp aims at your target while keeping the result usable. If the smallest sensible setting is still above your number, it says so rather than handing you something unwatchable. If you genuinely need it smaller, use the force option - the result will look noticeably rough, which is why it is a separate, deliberate choice.
Why did my PNG become a JPEG? Some formats can't be made meaningfully smaller without changing them. Recomp tells you before it starts whenever the format has to change, so it is never a surprise afterwards.
Can I compress several files at once? Yes. Pick multiple files and they are combined into a single ZIP archive.
Where did my compressed file go? Nowhere on its own - Recomp only writes a file when you choose to save or share it. Working copies live in temporary storage and are cleared automatically. Your original file is never modified.
Is anything uploaded? No. All processing happens on your device. There is no account, no server and no analytics. The App Store privacy label reads "Data Not Collected".
Is there a subscription? No, and there never will be. Recomp is a one-time purchase.
